JOB PURPOSE 

The Maintenance Manager is our Chief Aesthete and leads our team of maintenance technicians in delivering a unique luxury lifestyle experience. They build and maintain the Escapade culture and service standards. Our maintenance team are Aesthetes who are cognizant of their surroundings, are stimulated by design and who take pride in our presentation – on and off track. You will use this heightened aesthetical awareness to deliver high quality, personalized guest service befitting of the Escapade Culture

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To create and implement a best in class and award-winning guest experience.

 Maintenance Planning and Execution 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan for the hotel, covering preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, identify maintenance needs, prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on guest satisfaction.
  • Co-ordinate and execute maintenance activities, including repairs, installations, and replacements, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and operations.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Implement & maintain departmental procedures, policies and checklists which provides structure, yet reduces admin for the team at peak times and allows your team to focus on who is important – our guests.
  • To ensure staff schedules, holidays and other leave are co-ordinated in line with business levels to achieve maximum staff and guest satisfaction. 

Equipment and System Maintenance

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
  • Collaboration with external contractors and vendors when specialized expertise is required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations for all maintenance activities.
  • Implement energy saving initiatives and promote sustainability practices in maintenance operations. 

Budget and Resource Management

  • Responsible for your departmental Profit & Loss, including forecasting and budget planning.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts and procure materials and services at competitive prices.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance and maintenance costs.
  • Ensure controls are in place to maintain operational/departmental budgets, equipment & stock.
  • Ensure all staff have been adequately trained on departmental procedures, safe working practices & luxury customer service.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Liaise with other departments, such as housekeeping and front office, to address maintenance-related issues and provide timely solutions.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team and participate in project planning and execution for renovations, upgrades, and new construction.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, addressing their concerns or requests related to maintenance promptly and professionally.
  • Communicate & monitor standards set out by the Escapade General Manager 
  • Participates in the preparation and execution of hotel goals.
  • Make recommendations to the General Manager on improvements which can be made outside of your control.
  • Shall carry out ad-hoc duties & projects as advised by the hotel General Manager within the scope of your job role.

Budget Control 

  • You will use your experience to generate and protect revenues, to implement procedures and controls to monitor costs and will be able to deliver a P&L which is on budget. 
  • Detailed objectives will be set through the Personal Development Review (PDR) process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Head of Maintenance/Chief Engineer within the hospitality industry or a similar setting, of a minimum of a 4-star rating and no less than 150 guest rooms. 
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in managing various building systems and equipment including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general maintenance practices. 
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures related to maintenance operations. Excellent customer service skills Experience in a lifestyle/distinctive brand is advantageous. 
  • Pre-Opening experience is advantageous. 
  • Experience of managing a team of a small team A strong, yet positive leadership style.
  • A good command of the English language. Has an immaculate level of personal grooming & hygiene Competent in using IT systems and software including Microsoft Office Full, Clean UK driving licence.
