Max Verstappen after winning the Mexico City Grand Prix

F1 schedule 2023 - calendar, results & standings

All-time F1 records continued to tumble for Max Verstappen at the Mexico City Grand Prix, as the now triple champion claimed yet another victory in 2023, stretching his tally to 16 this season. This most recent win saw Verstappen eclipse his own 2022 record number of wins from a single season, and he did so in spectacular style.

Ferrari looked to be Verstappen's biggest threat after an impressive qualifying performance to lock out the front row. However, as always with the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, pole isn't necessarily the best starting position. Home hero Sergio Perez clashed with Charles Leclerc at Turn 1, ending his race and presenting his teammate with an opportunity to streak into an early lead.

Despite a mid-race red flag to recover the stricken Haas of Kevin Magnussen, another Verstappen victory never seemed to be in doubt. It was once again the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton who was his closest competitor once he'd made his way past pole-sitter Leclerc - who finished third - with a heart-stopping move into Turn 1. Lando Norris also starred in the latter stages as her surged through the pack from 14th to fifth in the final reckoning.

With just three race weekends left in the season, can anyone stop Verstappen's charge or will the Dutchman extend his win record even further as the 2023 F1 season draws to a close?

When is the next F1 race?Round 21 of the 2023 F1 season - The Sao Paulo Grand Prix - is set to take place from Friday, 3 November to Sunday, 5 November at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace.
