Silverstone Circuits Limited is part of the BRDC and Silverstone group of companies and your personal information will be shared with The British Racing Drivers' Club Limited (the BRDC) and Silverstone Estates Limited. Each company is part of the same corporate group and is based at Silverstone Circuit, Towcester, NN12 8TN and registered in England and Wales with company numbers 00257980 and 01013427 respectively. Both Silverstone Circuits Limited and Silverstone Estates Limited are wholly owned subsidiaries of the BRDC and Silverstone Estates Limited is the group company that manages and operates the groups properties, including Escapade Silverstone.

The specific personal information collected will depend on the nature of the events, activities, products or services we are providing.

For these purposes personal information means information relating to you from which you can be identified. The personal information that we may collect includes: 

  • Your name, address, postcode, date of birth, email address, telephone number and service details (if applicable). 
  • Profile information (including passwords and preferences) you provide in connection with any account you set up and will include your purchase history through your account. 
  • Payment information including bank account and payment card details. 
  • Details of visits to our website and social media or other platforms including details of your internet protocol (IP) address, operating system, browser version, cookie details, the content you viewed, how long you stayed and on which pages, and your navigation around the platforms. 
  • Location data from your IP address or by accessing global positioning functionality on your device (e.g. GPS). 
  • Other data you provide from time to time to help us provide you with improved products and services. 
  • Dietary preferences for hospitality purposes. 
  • Any disability status which you specifically disclose to us for the purposes of enabling us to provide any service or adjustment for you. 
  • Any information in connection with requirement for participation in activities or events. This might include insurance details or accident/medical details. 
  • CCTV images when you visit the venue. 
  • Vehicle/number plate details provided for parking and access purposes. 
  • Other data to ensure and check compliance with our website terms and/or otherwise as required by law.

We (or other parties allowed by us) may collect personal information about you from a range of different sources. This will include personal information which you provide to us both directly and indirectly, information which is provided by other parties and information collected through the use of cookies and similar technologies.

Personal information is collected in the following circumstances: 

  • When you purchase, sign-up for or participate in any of our events, activities, products or services. 
  • When you set up an account with us and when you update your account or any contact details. 
  • When you contact us in connection with any enquiry, or requesting any information or details relating to any of our events, activities, products or services. 
  • When you participate in any interactivity with us, for example, when you respond to any survey or questionnaire or submit an entry to a competition or prize draw.  When you subscribe to our marketing communications. 
  • When you apply for job vacancies or roles as race marshals or volunteers. 
  • When you visit the venue, through our CCTV system which operates for the security of both visitors and staff. 
  • When you use our Wi-Fi including the collection of conference delegate information via the use of the Wi-Fi landing page. 
  • When you visit during events we may have photography, recording or filming taking place that may be used for promotional material. 
  • When we are checking compliance with the Terms of Use and/or otherwise as required by law. 
  • When you visit our website or interact with us via social media or other platforms.
  • When you disclose your personal information to us or otherwise through our services at any other point. 
  • We may receive data about you from third parties.

Your personal information may be used by us and our authorised third parties in the following circumstances: 

  • Where you have consented to that use in connection with your provision of the personal information. You can withdraw your consent at any time. 
  • Where it is necessary in performance of the contract between us, for instance booking an experience or activity or the provision of tickets for an event. 
  • Where we are required to do so in compliance with a legal obligation. 
  • Where it is necessary to do so for the purposes of our legitimate interests for instance, to send you information about our events, activities, products or services or to request that you complete a survey or questionnaire.
How we use your personal information

We (and the other parties allowed by us) use your personal information to: 

  • provide, monitor, develop and improve the events, activities, products or services and/or your experience; 
  • manage, assist in and administer the operation and provision of our events, activities, products or services to you; 
  • send you or provide you with product and service recommendations, or operational updates on events you have previously shown interest in, or which you have consented to receive; 
  • contact you with service messages in order to process or fulfil your booking, and, where relevant, to provide your tickets and to notify you of any changes or updates in connection with any event, activity, product or service; 
  • personalise your online experience across our websites; 
  • process payments from you to us (where applicable) on our behalf; 
  • process and deal with any complaints or enquiries made by or about you;  monitor compliance with our website terms or any other applicable terms and conditions and investigate any suspected breach of our website terms or the breach of any other terms and conditions otherwise relating to you; 
  • administer the prize if you are lucky enough to be a prize winner, and to publish or otherwise make available a list of prize winners; 
  • provide you with access to one or more social networking sites from the services. Any personal information shared with a third party social network provider will be processed in accordance with their own privacy policy; 
  • provide access to our Wi-Fi at the venue; 
  • detect and help prevent any criminal activity including fraud; 
  • process any job/marshal/volunteer application which you make; and/or 
  • as relevant, process such personal information for any purpose connected with your employment by us.

We review how long we hold personal information on a regular basis. We are legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations. We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or as long as it set out in any relevant contract you hold with us.

Marketing messages

We will send you marketing messages where you have previously purchased products or services from us (and have not opted–out), or where you have indicated your consent to receiving such messages, in which case we will utilise the relevant contact mechanism(s) specified by you.

You can stop receiving marketing communications from us at any time. You can use the ‘unsubscribe’, ‘stop’ or similar facility contained in any communication you receive from us or you can unsubscribe through your account or you can email us at the email address stating that you do not wish to receive further communications from us. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect your receipt of information/tickets relating to events, activities, products or services which you have already booked.

We will not sell or rent your personal information to any third parties.

How your personal information is shared

The types of authorised third parties we may share your personal information are: 

  • Third parties working on our behalf in connection with the provision and delivery of any events, activities, products or services such as our employees, contractors, suppliers and/or agents including without limitation our camping partner to deliver camping services, our hospitality partner to deliver hospitality packages and our customer care teams to administer the services provided to you by us now or in the future. However, when we use these third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary for them to deliver their services and we have a contract in place with them that requires them to keep your personal information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. 
  • Technical services providers such as our IT providers and website hosts, payment service providers, credit reference agencies and ticketing suppliers to the extent such personal information is required by them to provide their services. 
  • Our professional service advisers (insurers, auditors, lawyers, bankers etc.) in connection with the provision of professional advice subject to appropriate conditions of confidentiality. 
  • Silverstone Heritage Limited (the operator of Silverstone Museum). 
  • Where you have consented that we can do so, to third parties in connection with the issue of marketing communications from that third party. You should ensure that you make yourself aware of any such third party’s privacy policy before providing us with consent to share your personal information with that third party. 
  • The police and/or other emergency services, regulatory bodies or legal advisers in connection with any alleged criminal offence, major incident, unlawful activity or suspected breach of the Terms of Use and/or the breach of other terms and conditions or otherwise where we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal information in order to comply with any legal obligation or to protect the rights, property or safety of others or where we suspect harm or potential harm to others. We will co-operate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity or location of or any other information about anyone breaching any relevant terms and conditions or otherwise for the prevention or detection of crime or the apprehension or prosecution of offenders. We shall not be obliged to give you any further notice of this. 
  • Any third party (and their advisers) as part of a sale of some or all of our business and assets to such third party or as part of any business restructuring or reorganisation. Any such third party purchaser may utilise your personal information in compliance with the terms of this privacy policy.

Some of the authorised third parties may run their operations outside the UK and this may include a country which may not be subject to the same data protection laws as companies based in the UK. In these circumstances, we will take steps to ensure they provide an adequate level of protection in accordance with UK data protection law, and appropriate safeguards are in place.

Information may be shared as part of general statistical information about our user base, sales patterns, traffic volumes and related matters. These details will not include information personally identifying you.

Please note this policy does not cover:

  • companies, services or applications that we do not own, control or engage, including (without limitation) third party websites or applications/widgets (e.g. from “social media” platforms such as Facebook or Twitter) which we link to or offer, nor does it cover advertisers.
  • certain pages and services which are accessed and provided through our website and system but which are hosted, managed and operated by other parties. These include our ticketing platform and our shop pages. Such services, applications and third parties have their own privacy policies and/or terms and conditions of use, which you should read before using any such services. These third parties and services are wholly independent of us and are solely responsible for all aspects of their relationship with you and any use you may make of such services.
Protecting your personal information

We are committed to protecting your personal information and try to take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information and to prevent it from being disclosed, accessed, mis-used, lost or destroyed. Where reasonably possible we use industry-standard technology to allow for the encryption of sensitive information.

To help protect your personal information you must not share any password we give you. 

Protecting your personal information

Non-sensitive details (your email address, etc.) are transmitted normally over the internet, and this can never be guaranteed 100% secure. As a result, whilst we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, we try to ensure its security on our systems. Where we have given (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our websites, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. You have a number of rights in connection with the personal information we hold about you including the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
