Driving Standards at Silverstone Circuit

Revised October 2024

To ensure the safety of Silverstone Circuit (the Venue) users and its staff, Silverstone Circuits Ltd, as operator of the Venue, require that all drivers and riders within the Venue comply with basic driving standards, all applicable road traffic legislation (including the Road Traffic Act 1988), as well as any additional requirements or restrictions the Venue imposes. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Vehicles must be driven with no more passengers than their road legal limit.
  • Safety helmets meeting the British safety standards must be worn when riding a motorcycle or moped. A driver’s licence for the vehicle driven/ridden must be held.
  • No motor vehicle may be driven whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
  • No motor vehicle may be driven whilst the driver is eating, drinking and / or using a mobile phone.
  • Seatbelts are compulsory at all times, where they are fitted to the vehicle. This also applies to (but is not limited to) buggies and operational machinery.
  • Vehicles should not be left unattended with keys in the ignition.
  • Vehicles should be covered by third party insurance as a minimum.
  • You are not permitted to use a privately owned e-scooter anywhere on the Silverstone Circuit premises. It is illegal to use a privately owned scooter in public areas and during public events, the Silverstone venue is deemed a public area.
  • 20 mph speed limit on all internal roads and 5mph in designated areas of the Venue such as the Paddocks.

Adherence to these driving standards is a condition of entry to the Venue.

To ensure that safety of everyone visiting the Venue, Silverstone staff and their contractors are asked to stop and challenge anyone who does not appear to be complying with applicable road traffic legislation (including those standards listed above).

We ask for your support in complying with road traffic legislation at Silverstone.
