The 2024 British Grand Prix in numbers

The 2024 British Grand Prix was a resounding success, matching 2023’s record-breaking event attendance and setting its own record for single-day attendance, alongside Hamilton’s own history-making results.

Aside from the headline stats, there are plenty of other significant numbers that helped define a weekend that will be talked about for years to come.

Sell-out crowd

The 2023 British Grand Prix set new attendance records for F1 in the UK, and the 2024 edition matched the incredible figure of 480,000 weekend attendance. But it was race day that stole the headlines this year, smashing the single-day Silverstone attendance record with 164,000 people present for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

A historic qualifying result for Great Britain

For the first time since the South African Grand Prix in 1968, there were three Brits in the top three in qualifying. On that day, Jim Clark led Lotus-Ford team-mate Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart. In 2024, George Russell headed the British trio with Lewis Hamilton second and Lando Norris third.

It was also the first time ever that three Brits had qualified in the top three at Silverstone. A truly historic day for British motorsport and the circuit.

After a thrilling battle in mixed conditions with old rival Max Verstappen, compatriots George Russell and Lando Norris as well as McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, Hamilton emerged victorious to claim a record-breaking ninth win at a single circuit, in front of a jubilant Silverstone crowd.
