It may not be 2025 yet, but the planning for Silverstone Festival next summer is in full flow. The arrival of the New Year will signify some exciting automotive anniversaries and many of these will be celebrated in style with special birthday displays and track parades over the end-of-summer Bank Holiday weekend at Silverstone Festival (22-24 August).
In addition to the Festival’s plans to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship – the first round of which was staged at Silverstone back in 1950 – there will be other big 75th birthday bashes among the club community, too, with the Aston Martin DB2 and Jaguar Mark VII also marking the same milestone. Another massive turnout is expected to mark 60 years of the TVR Car Club while the iconic Jaguar XJS and BMW’s ever-popular 3 Series both turn 50 in 2025.
Back in 2017, the McLaren Owners Group set a new world record when 115 supercars took to the Silverstone circuit to mark what would have been the 80th birthday of founder Bruce McLaren. With McLaren Automotive turning 40 in 2025, another huge turnout of Woking’s finest is on the cards.
It’s also a big year for Lotus with the 50th anniversary of the Esprit, 30 years of the Elise and 25 years of the Exige – the various Lotus clubs will be out in force, joining in the celebrations.
Following some weather challenges and racing incidents last summer which meant several anniversary parade laps had to be cancelled, organisers have made space available in the timetable for these to take place in 2025 instead. Any club member who attended the event in 2024 and experienced a parade lap cancellation will be eligible in 2025. The organisers will make contact with everyone affected directly.
“We are delighted to be re-arranging these parades which last summer had to be cancelled due to circumstances well beyond our control,” explained Nick Wigley, event director. “The good news is that we have re-scheduled all those who missed out and we hope to welcome everyone back in 2025.”
Track parade laps deferred include several real highlights such as 65 years of Marcos, 60 years of the Ford Mustang, 50 years of the Porsche 911 Turbo and 35 years of the Mazda MX-5.
Members of the 100+ registered car clubs joining the festivities next summer can take advantage of a special 2-for-1 ticket offer when booking a display package and, if purchased before the end of the Super Early Bird period (midnight on 5 January), will take advantage of the very best prices with packages available from just £50.
All tickets purchased give access to both racing paddocks, open trackside grandstands plus an incredible line-up of family friendly activities and attractions. These include three evenings of live music concerts from chart-topping performers, selected fun fair rides, stunt shows and a wealth of other top class Bank Holiday entertainment for all ages. Accompanied children aged 15 and under can attend free.
