Memorable moments from Silverstone Festival 2024
28 August 2024Silverstone Festival 2024 may have had its fair share of gloomy skies and downpours, but it would take more than that to dampen the spirits of the motorsport fans and festival goers who called the circuit home over the August bank holiday weekend. Here are some of our Silverstone Festival 2024 highlights.
Jann Mardenborough sim challenge
Gran Turismo gamer turned real-life racer Jann Mardenborough was spotted in the BWT Alpine sim rig area setting a lap time over the weekend. In a virtual F1 car at the circuit where he first drove a racing car – Silverstone – Jann set a lap time of 1:28.937 for fans to try to beat.
F1 is never far away at Silverstone
At the trackside pub garden in the fan zone, F1 fans were treated to a live screening of the Dutch Grand Prix where Lando Norris took an emphatic second win of his career. The second half of the 2024 F1 season couldn’t have got off to a better start for the British driver and Silverstone Festival visitors revelled in his success.
Mercedes F1 W12 demo laps
Esteban Gutiérrez took the 2021 Mercedes F1 W12 for a spin around the circuit in torrential conditions, giving fans a taste of modern F1 in all its ground-effect glory.
Senna celebration
A total of 26 Ayrton Senna-themed cars were displayed throughout the weekend, and they took to the track for a memorable demonstration of his most iconic and historic cars including examples from McLaren, Lotus and Toleman.

Star-studded races
Legendary F1 designer Adrian Newey and his son Harrison drove in the International Trophy for Classic GT Cars (Pre ’66) at the wheel of a stunning Jaguar E-Type. The duo qualified in 14th and finished 13th overall, just outside the top ten in their class.
F1 driver Kevin Magnussen’s father, Jan qualified 26th in the Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy and fought through the field to ninth overall, but crucially took the class win.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Broadbent and Jann Mardenborough qualified on the front row of the Michigan Mustang Celebration Trophy and finished a fantastic third to take a well-earned podium.

Foodie Fest
Once again, Foodie Fest was one of the most popular attractions at Silverstone Festival. Everything from chef demos to an artisan market, and a Diddly Squat Farm Shop pop-up to Tasting Tent experiences. There was so much to do and see at Foodie Fest.
Music acts
There were three days of unforgettable performances on The eBay Stage, each of which with its own superstar headliner. Sophie Ellis-Bextor kicked off the weekend in style on Friday evening and Busted delivered the Saturday night energy, while Olly Murs brought the curtain down on a superb festival as Sunday night's main act.
