Silverstone Festival 2024: Your ultimate event guide for on-track action

Silverstone Festival is a place for motorsport enthusiasts and families alike to gather for an unforgettable weekend of racing and entertainment. Whether you're a lifelong fan of motorsport or looking to enjoy a day out with the family, Silverstone Festival 2024 has something for everyone.

This year's festival promises thrills both on and off the track, but here we’ll specifically look at the action unfolding on the circuit itself. With a total of 20 races, 14 qualifying sessions and many other on-track activities, almost every category appears more than once across the three days, but we have ensured you’ll see everything at least once in this list.

The Schedule

Friday 

  • 09:00-09:18 – Qualifying for the Historic Formula Junior cars kicks off the weekend’s on-track activity. Introduced in 1958 as an affordable stepping-stone to Formula 1, these are small, single-seaters powered by a 1.0/1-litre production engine.  There are two Formula Junior races later in the weekend, getting Saturday and Sunday’s running underway at 09:00. 
  • 10:13-10:33 – The first F2 Classic Interseries session gets underway with qualifying. Featuring cars from 1967 to 1978 raced by the likes of Jochen Rindt, Ronnie Peterson, Jody Scheckter, Graham Hill and Sir Jackie Stewart. Races for this category can be seen at 09:40 on Saturday and 11:25 on Sunday.
  • 11:28-11:48 – Sticking with the theme of F1 feeder series from the seventies and eighties, qualifying for the F3 Classic Interseries will feature classic machinery from Argos, Chevrons, Dallaras, Marches, Martinis and Ralts. F3 races will take place at 11:30 on Saturday and 09:40 on Sunday. 
  • 13:20-13:50 – The first of three Car Club Anniversary Parades will celebrate landmark anniversaries for the Abarth, Marcos and Alfa Romeo Owners Clubs plus much more! Saturday’s 13:10 parade will do the same for Bentley, Austin Healeys Mustangs and more. Finally, Sunday’s parade at 13:35 is a celebration of Maserati, MK1 Golf and Lancia Stratos among others. 
  • 17:50-18:17 – In honour of the Mustang’s 60th birthday, the nimble Mini and the roaring V8 ‘stang will do battle around Silverstone for the Pure Michigan Celebration Trophy. Qualifying is on Friday, before the crowd-pleasing race at 17:05 on Sunday.
  • 18:31-18:58 – Qualifying for the International Trophy For Classic Gt Cars (Pre '66) sees the likes of Aston Martin, Jaguar, AC, Porsche, Ferrari, MG, Morgan and TVR racing against Chevrolet, Ford, Austin Healey, Alfa Romeo, Triumph, Lotus and Mustang deciding the grid for the double-driver, mini endurance on Sunday at 18:10.
  • 19:15-20:05 – The Silverstone Festival Fun Run is a 5.14k run around the iconic Silverstone circuit raising money for a worthy cause in snvb Community Larders.

Saturday

  • 10:20-11:10 – Retro Touring car enthusiasts will not want to miss the Adrian Flux Trophy For MRL Historic Touring Cars. Comprising entries from British and European Championships from 1966 to 1990, as well as a class for pre ’66 machinery. You can catch qualifying for this category at 09:32 on Friday Morning. 
  • 12:10-13:00 – The Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy & Stirling Moss Trophy combines two fiercely competitive categories for pre-‘56 sports-racers and ‘proper’ sports-racing cars built before ’61. Drivers compete for the trophy Sir Stirling won at the 1955 British Grand Prix. Qualifying for this race takes place at 12:02 on Friday. 
  • 15:20-16:10 – The Masters Gt Trophy boasts a huge variety of GT racers from three year groups (2007-11, 2012-14, 2015-18) and three classes (GT4, CUP and Challenge) so there will be something for everyone in this race. Friday at 14:44 is the time to watch qualifying for this race.
  • 17:10-17:50 – High-performance machines from endurance racing’s golden era make up the entry list for the Masters Endurance Legends. Cars from 1995 to 2012 and across Prototype 1, Prototype 2, GT1 and GT2 are sure to get the blood pumping for any self-respecting petrolhead. Qualifying for this race is at 15:25 on Friday while a second race gets underway at the same time on Sunday afternoon.
  • 18:10-19:00 – For sixties and seventies Le Mans fans, there’s the Masters Sports Car Legends with Chevron, Porsche, Lola,Ferrari, Osella, Coldwell and Ford all represented and vying for honours in a race that is sure to transport you back to an era of icons. Catch qualifying for this race at 16:34 on Friday.

Sunday 

  • 10:25-11:05 – The BRDC 500 For MRL Pre-War Sports Cars features some of the oldest entries at Silverstone Festival. Examples of Alfa Romeo, Alvis, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Frazer Nash, Lagonda, MG, Riley, Talbot and many other manufacturers built before 1941 feature on this grid. Watch qualifying for this group at 12:43 on Friday. 
  • 12:05-12:55 – Some of the most iconic car shapes ever produced hail from the early 60s, and that is exactly the era the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy caters for. Witness Austin Healeys going wheel-to-wheel with Jaguar E-Types and much, much more. You can catch qualifying for the TT at 10:47 on Friday. 
  • 13:10-13:25 – The second of two scheduled Ayrton Senna Tribute Demonstrations takes place on Sunday afternoon, the other at 16:40 on Saturday. You won’t want to miss this!
  • 13:55-14:20 – Open exclusively to those who won a Grid Walk ticket in our ballot, the Historic F1 Pre-Race Grid Walk is a truly special experience for any motorsport fan. 
  • 14:25-14:45 – The Masters Racing Legends (Formula One '66-'85) class evocatively plays on the senses, harking back to the golden era of F1 with 3-litre, 1966-1985 examples from Arrows, Brabham, Ensign, Hesketh, Ligier, Lotus, March, McLaren, Penske, Shadow, Surtees,Tyrrell, and Williams on the grid. There is another race on Saturday afternoon at 14:00 and qualifying at 14:10 on Friday.
  • 15:05-15:20 – This demonstration is the last of three to feature modern-day F1. The first is on Friday at 16:09 and the second is on Saturday at 16:30. 
  • 16:25-16:45 – Grand Prix cars of yesteryear are sure to catch the attention of old and new fans alike. From the twenties to the sixties, this category is a journey back to some of history’s class inter-marque rivalries. The first race to feature these cars is on Saturday Afternoon at 14:40 and qualifying is at 17:18 on Friday.
